About me
Jessica Burgess is Argonne’s STEM Partnerships and Outreach Manager, overseeing the development and coordination of outreach activities and competitions that align with Argonne’s science and research. These immersive learning experiences aim to advance STEM learning and create the next generation of STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math) professionals.
Jessica and her team also work together to build and strengthen impactful partnerships with schools and STEM organizations, driving collaborations to deepen STEM knowledge and inspire future innovators.
Prior to her current role, Jessica served as Argonne’s Education Outreach Lead.
Jessica is a member of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) and the American Association of the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and holds various roles on both national and local committees that serve to raise awareness of STEM opportunities and expand pathways to STEM careers.
Before joining Argonne in 2016, Jessica held a variety of roles in both formal and informal education, engaging thousands of young learners and families each year through STEM activities, interactive shows, and events. She has also presented numerous STEM topics.
Jessica holds an M.Ed. in Science Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a B.S. in Marine Biology from Eckerd College (Florida), and a post-baccalaureate certificate in Zoo and Aquarium Studies from Western Illinois University.
From an early age, Jessica was passionate about science and creative problem-solving. Throughout her school years, she took pride in being an active member of engineering and science clubs, immersing herself in hands-on learning and innovation. Outside work, Jessica is an avid animal lover and has volunteered at animal rescue and non-profits.
